*Minister Balaam Inspects Itojo Hospital En Route to Rukiga, Pledges New X-Ray Machine and Generator by December


The Minister of Local Government, Hon. Barugahara Balaam Ateenyi, this morning made an impromptu stopover at Itojo Hospital while on his way to Rukiga District for the Presidential Anti-Corruption campaign.


Hon. Balaam said he briefly met medical personnel, patients, members of the community and the Hospital Administrator.


During the engagement, several challenges affecting the facility were raised, including plumbing problems, lack of an X-ray machine, an outdated generator installed in 1971, and understaffing.


The Minister assured locals that government is doing all it can to fully renovate and equip Itojo Hospital, which is one of the main highway hospitals.


On the issue of the X-ray machine, Hon. Balaam revealed that he has contacted his senior colleague, Hon. Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, the Minister of Health, who has pledged to have a new X-ray machine installed by mid-December.



He added that a new generator will also be installed to replace the old one.


After the inspection at Itojo, Hon. Balaam proceeded to Rukiga District Headquarters for a meeting with district leaders before heading to Kakatunda Playground in Bukinda for a community baraza.


The Rukiga engagement marks the start of his week-long Kigezi tour to operationalize the President’s directive to expose and eliminate corruption, with a focus on strengthening accountability and improving service delivery in local governments.

According to the family, Africano Nteziyaremye, born on 26th September 1967, and his wife Kyampire Peace, born on 26th December 1978, will be laid to rest at their home in Zindiro Cell, Kamonyi Ward, Kisoro Municipality.  FINAL BURIAL PROGRAM - TUESDAY, 20th OCTOBER 2026: The family has confirmed that there will be a Requiem Mass starting at 12:00 Noon at Voice of Muhabura playground, Kisoro Municipality.
